This is part 1 of a long Memoire of College

So, college. Freshman year is done. It's unbelievable. I must admit, I was terrified of going to college. I'm kind of shy when it comes to making new friends, and I didn't know what to expect. I'm so glad I decided to do marching band in college. It was probably the best decision. I'm also glad I facebook stalked Miami. I think I gained my most important friends from facebook.

First and foremost, Timothy Lucas. Timothy Lucas and I met via facebook over the summer. When we first started talking, I was like, "This boy has to be gay." Why? Well, obviously facebook sign: no interested in filled out. And then he was really into theater and musicals and music. Not that all of that automatically meant gay, but for me it did. I tend to assume everyone is gay. Oops. So then we fell in love online just in time to become best friends at college.

The first time I met Luke in person, I knew it was an instant match. He helped my Mommy carry up my futon to the third floor. After band, he invited me to dinner. I had been heading back to my room to go eat by myself when he invited me. I thought it was the nicest thing anyone could ever do. I was still a little bit timid and afraid of college, but the dinner was great. It was at BDubs, and I can still hear Eric Stanton describing to me what that stood for. The dinner ended up being really fun and really good. I was very shy, though. I just remember Eric asking a lot of questions and me not answering them very clearly.

Anyways, long story short, after that, I think it took us until Fall Break before we went more than 24 hours without seeing each other. Other than the fact that we had music classes together, we hung out all the time. He would play piano for me all the time. When I first heard him play, i was instantly blown away. I knew no one back home who could play so well. And to top it all off, he's gotten a thousand times better since then. And I've learned that I have one of the bestest friends in all of bestfriend-dom. Luke is my double. We're both uberly persuasive, love doing crazy stuff, and care about everyone else. There's lots of other things we have in common, but I can't think of them right now. I've already written enough about Luke.

Next victims of meeting before college even started: The quad (minus Emily <3). I was so terrified of getting to college with a random roommate, so I ended up finding people similar to me online. First I found a girl named Rachel Sniff. She was pretty awesome. Then I found Katie Robison. Since I hate odd numbers, I then found Kristin Smith. Well, Rachel Sniff dropped out because of financial issues, so we were back to three. Katie wouldn't get back to me (which I late found out was due to the fact that she doesn't have internet), so I was like, "okay I can handle a double." Then Katie got back to me and we were at three again. So then I found Shanna Fair. And we had a lovely quad again. Yay quad! We started a silly group on facebook that I'm sure none of us have been to in five billion years. We all really clicked even though we're all different in our own ways. Shanna is very on the ball. When she has homework, she goes to the library or down to the basement to do it. Katie is very funny and has lots of fun finding interesting things online. Kristin is very in touch with God and herself. Not that these three amazing people are limited to these qualities, but they're just the small things that make us different. I could talk forever about the quad, but I can't even remember a lot of things. Emily and Luke joined our quad pretty early on, and the six of us have been a happily married quex ever since.

Friends I made due to marching band and music
Collins Clan: Most of the friends I've made at Miami have been through doing Marching Band and my music minor. This is by no means in any order. Alex (Cooch), Erin Semple, Jenni Patton, Kori Hill, Box, Brandi, Jamie Slone!, and Kristin Hill. These are all the people in Collins whom I hold a dear love for. I've been to Collins maybe five times all year (not counting the times I stopped by on my way to Erickson), but every time I go, it's pretty amazing. The first time I went there, actually, was after my botany class. I played Smash with Alex and his friends before he made me watch a scary movie. But then he walked me home and I found out that he was an Eagle Scout and all this other stuff. Jamie, Kori, and Kristin are now my sisters <3, which is a whole 'nother story.

There are so many people I have yet to mention, and so many memories left unsaid. But I am really, really tired. So I will continue this tomorrow.

Aaaw, the story about you and your best friend is adorable :) I lived in a quad my Freshman year too, and really enjoyed it. Have a wonderful summer!
