For the love of music

So for the past couple of weeks, all I've been hearing is "Just change to a Music major already." The biggest user of this line is my friend Jamie Sloan, a music education, clarinet. She is very upset that I am not a music major because it drives her crazy that all I do is talk about music and am very passionate about it. As much as I would love to be a music major, there are plenty of reasons why I can't be. First off, I wouldn't get into the program. Having passion for music isn't good enough for an audition. Secondly, I'm already double majoring. Even so, it still hurts me every time to hear that I should be a music major, especially from my music major friends (aka all of my friends). As much as I wish I could, I can't. If I dropped another major, I could probably find time to become one, but I love creative writing too much, and english ed is too important for a career. I know I could do music ed, but that won't help me since English is in more of a demand than music. So I don't know. My friend Lara is a music ed major as well, and she is going to graduate school for english ed. You can do it that way, but you can' do it the other way around. I can't do english ed as an undergrad and music ed later. bah. So I've got this huge internal conflict bothering me of wanting to be a music major and knowing I can't be.

In other news, my friend Emily introduced me to Oxford's region of nanowrimo, so yay! She's my POTW because she talked to me for an hour yesterday on the complexities of desires, wants, and needs. Didn't solve my problem, but was a nice talk. I don't know her last name, though. Bah.

Never say never! Last year I didn't think I'd get into a good music school, but I did. But don't let anyone pressure you--do what you think is best for you. Follow your gut; it's always right!

Whut? I is your person of the week? Whut's this?

(I found you on NaNo, btw. And the last name is "Imes." There are FOUR of us in DO, which is a reason to worry.)
