Perfect Example of a College Student's First Semester

If you had to define the typical college student's first semester, it would look a little bit like mine.

I started college so sure of what I wanted. Now I have no idea what I want, or who I'm meant to be.

I gained a best friend. Probably someone who is already closer to me than most best friends I've had.

I went to parties, even though I didn't drink, I got the full experience of parties. And I loved them.

I questioned my beliefs on a few things.

I was in the midst of an election, and it was actually important to the people around me.

I had classes I hated, like botany, I had classes I loved, like my music classes, and I had classes that I actually had to work in, like english.

I've learned so much, in every single one of my classes. I have taken something, at least one thing, from every single class I had this semester. Whether it was relevant to the class, to myself, or to the world around me, I have learned so much, for which I am so grateful.

I attempted something big, and failed (nano). If that isn't typical of a first year college student, I don't know what is.

I've discovered my love for music, even though I've always had such a love, I have realized how much it actually means to me.

I have all sorts of groups of friends, mostly music, but some aren't.

I joined a professional fraternity! And next year I might do a service one?

I skipped some classes, and it was okay. And I don't regret anything I skipped, nor do I regret going to a class either. haha.

I had two jobs, both of which I've had good times and bad times.

One class has completely changed my life (piano) because it has opened up my eyes to what practicing with lessons can do to your improvement rate.

I did marching band expecting to hate it, and I feel like I only have friends because of it.

Honestly though, this semester has been amazing. There have definitely been way more ups than downs, if there were even any downs. I have met so many amazing people and I have yet to meet so many. Next semester will be great. DO will start, and I'll get to have interviews with all these great people, and lunches with all these other people I love. I'm starting a quartet with three of my really good friends and it's gonna be a blast! It's the msot random quartet you've ever met, too. And I'm taking the same kinds of classes (music, english, and one science). haha. 'Cept it's completely different. I'm taking theory, sightsinging/dictation, and piano again like usual, but I'm adding steel band (If I make it). Instead of botany, I'll be taking physics. I'll be taking all sorts of english classes. Shakespeare, a fiction workshop, an intro to journalism class, and an intro to poetry. All of these classes are delightfully different, which'll make it easier to differentiate between them. I think that's one thing I like about english and music. Every class is different. With business, it's all the same. With science, it's all the same (well, structurally, not like the same the same). But there are so many aspects of english- the writing side, the reading side, the analyzing side, the workshop side. It's great. There are so many aspects of music too- performing, creating, sightsinging, learning a different instrument. It's just so great. I love it I love it I love it. :D

I don't know what I'm going to do once I'm out of college. Ideally, I want to write musicals. And all sorts of other things. I love writing fiction, so I would definitely want to keep with that. I still want to be a teacher, but I don't know what I want to teach, and I definitely want to wait until I know enough about my subject, instead of going straight into teaching. I want to become a librarian at one point, if even jst for a summer or something. I want to be a stay at home mommy. I want to travel, I want to live, I want to love, and I want to have no regrets. I'm just a baby, I have my whole life ahead of me. I don't want it to go to waste. :D
