Pro-crastination

So I have this HUGE exam tomorrow...today. It's kind of daunting. I have made 43 notecards, but they still don't cover most of the material that will be on the test.

One thing I've found out while procrastinating is that anemia has a lot more symptoms than I knew before googling it. First off, I did not know that anemia causes a lack of concentration and a lower IQ in most teenage girls who are diagnosed with it. I always just assumed I lacked concentration just because well, that's who I am. I didn't know it was because I had low iron (though, I could just have a very bad concentration skill anyways and anemia just enhances it). I also didn't know that Vitamin C helps with the absorption of iron, which might explain why, since I'm taking 500% + daily value of iron, I might be getting sick because since I drink so much apple juice, which contains 100% daily value of VC per bottle, I'm absorbing way more iron than my body normally did before I became an avid apple juice drinker. There are other symptoms that I did know about before, like really really painful periods, irritability, dizziness, lightheadedness, and fatigue...all of which I experience. Jay can tell you all about my irritability, though he never actually reads this. Another symptom I didn't know about was rapid heart rate caused by exercise. I always assumed that everyone's heartrates accelerated really fast as soon as they started exercising. But in gym class we would measure our heart rates after the step test and mine would always be soooo much higher than everyone else's. I mean, I know I'm out of shape, but that doesn't make everyone else around me in shape. My teacher actually asked me if I was a smoker. Well, now I know it might be because of my awful blood not allowing enough oxygen to where it needs to go. Restless leg syndrom- especially when I'm about to fall asleep. I always have this sensation that I have to kick my legs around. In fact, just thinking about it now makes me wanna move them. I also can't keep my legs in one position for very log. I also get a lot of leg cramps, where my entire leg or foot randomly has muscle freezes and tenses up. I have actually gotten used to these and while they hurt, I'm not gonna lie, I kind of in a twisted way like the feeling. But anyways, that's a symptom of anemia, too. Insomnia is a symptom of anemia. I remember freshman year especially, I slept literally never. Ask Craig, he would stay up with me, and he would usually get off before me. Since then I have gotten better, but really, anemia explains so many things about me over the years.
Some symptoms of anemia that I don't have include desire to eat nonfood items, such as paper or dirt. I used to eat paper a lot as a child though. I actually loved eating paper as a child. But not anymore. I haven't even thought about eating paper in years. Though I do love the taste of playdo, I've never eaten dirt. I also don't have an upwards curvature of my nails. I don't even know what that means. Low sex drive. Yeah, I think my sex drive is definitely not low. It's not rediculously high either. It's perfect. :D

As you can see, I like to procrastinate, but at least this time I found something useful to learn about during my procrastination instead of just facebooking.

I must admit that I didn't know a lot of this stuff about anemia. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if I get enough iron/vitamin C myself, because I share the heart-rate and leg issues, although neither are probably quite that severe. But it's good to know that that iron could be an easy way to improve my overall health, at least in those regards.
